About Noren
Q. Can I use noren outdoors?
A. Yes, they can be used both indoors and outdoors. However, please note that prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, rain, and wind may cause fading or fabric deterioration. We recommend hanging them under eaves to minimize exposure. If you require specific durability for outdoor use, we can offer custom Noren made with specialized outdoor fabrics. Please contact us for details.
Q. Do you offer custom sizes?
A. Yes. In addition to our standard sizes, we offer made-to-measure services for specific widths and lengths. Please let us know your requirements via the Custom Order Form.
Q. How do I care for my noren?
A. Gently dust off any surface dust. If washing is necessary, hand wash gently in cold water. Do not use bleach or tumble dry. Lay flat or hang to air dry in the shade.
Q. What materials are used?
A. We primarily use natural fibers such as cotton and hemp. Transparency, texture, and dye absorption vary by material.
Note: Our "Re:Chirimen" collection is created by upcycling polyester noren previously used in shrines.
For custom orders, we can propose the optimal fabric to suit your specific intended use and location.
Q. Are hanging rods included?
A. No, the noren body is sold separately. Please purchase a hanging rod or pole that suits your installation space.
Q. How should I store it when not in use?
A. Ensure the fabric is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a place away from direct sunlight and humidity. For long-term storage, we recommend using insect repellent for fabrics to protect the natural fibers.
Ordering & Shipping
Q. Do you ship internationally?
A. Yes, we ship worldwide from Kyoto, Japan. Shipping costs and estimated delivery times will be calculated at checkout.
Q. Can I ship to multiple addresses in one order?
A. We can only ship to one address per order. If you wish to send items to multiple locations, please place separate orders for each destination.
Q. Can I change my shipping address after ordering?
A. If the order has not yet been shipped, we will do our best to accommodate your request. Please contact us immediately. We cannot redirect packages once they have been dispatched.
Q. My item arrived damaged. What should I do?
A. Please contact us at info@noren-craft.com within 7 days of delivery. Be sure to include photos of the damaged item, the outer packaging, and your order number (or packing slip) so we can assist you quickly.

Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. We accept major credit cards and PayPal.
Q. I didn't receive an order confirmation email.
A. Please check your spam or junk folder. To ensure future delivery, please add office@katouken.jp to your safe sender list. If you still cannot find it, please contact us via the inquiry form.
Returns & Exchanges
Q. What is your return policy?
A. Natural Dye Ingredients: Due to hygiene and handling reasons, these items are non-returnable. Hand-dyed Textiles: We accept returns only if the item is unused and includes all original packaging. You must contact us within 7 days of delivery to initiate a return.
Q. The color looks different from the website. Can I return it?
A. Slight variations in color may occur due to monitor settings and the nature of hand-dyeing. These are considered unique characteristics of handmade craftsmanship and are not considered defects.
